CHIPOLOPOLO coach Honour Janza has finally recalled in-form Israel-based striker Evans Kangwa to beef up the squad summoned for this month’s two crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Mozambique and Cape Verde.
Kangwa, who at the weekend banged in a brace in Hapoel Ra’anana’s 2-1 away win at Moadon Sport Ashdod, returns to the national team for the first time since March this year.
The Nkana striker, who is on loan to the Israeli club, scored twice for Zambia in his last appearance when the Chipolopolo beat Uganda 2-1 in an international friendly in Ndola.
With the inclusion of Kangwa, who has so far scored three times for Ra’anana, Janza has 27 players to his 18-man squad for the Mozambique AFCON assignment on November 15 in Maputo.
FAZ communications and media manager, Nkweto Tembwe said Kangwa had been recalled to the team and that the camping date for the local players had been brought forward to November 8 from November 9.
Tembwe said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that all Zambian players with something to offer to football would be accorded an apportunity to star for the Chipolopolo.
“We have summoned Evans to be part of the squad because every player that has the potential has a chance in the Chipolopolo,” Tembwe said.
He said local players were to report to camp tomorrow by 18:00 hours to start up early preparations.
“The local players will have to report on Saturday 18:00 and not Sunday as early announced because we do not what them to lose days in training as you are aware Tuesday November 11 is burial date for our Late President and FAZ patron Micheal Sata,” Tembwe said.
Earlier this week, Janza hinted that he will make changes to the 26 man squad due to the inactiveness of the local players at their clubs because of the 14 days of national mourning in honour of President Sata.
Meeanwhile, SHAMAOMA MUSONDA reports that Janza has said he is not scared to thrust juniors from the Under-17 like midfielder Changwe Kalale into the senior national team starting lineup.
Speaking in an interview, Janza said Kalale was a player with a lot of promise and that his skill comes at the right time when his policy was to fuse young players into the main national team for the long term good of the Chipolopolo.
He said in his reign as Chipolopolo coach, there would be a number of players from the junior national ranks getting called for senior duty.
In his provisional team preparing for crunch 2015 AFCON qualifiers against Mozambique and Cape Verde later this month, Janza has included juniors like Under-17 star Kalale and the Under-20 trio of Patrick Ngoma, Charles Zulu, Spencer Sautu and Lubambo Musonda.
