CENTRAL Province Permanent Secretary Edwige Mutale has implored civil servants to take keen interest in all Government projects and ensure all contractors improve the quality of their work.
Speaking during a tour of Kalwelwe Health Centre and Kalwelwe Primary School in Kabwe, Ms Mutale bemoaned the attitude of civil servants towards Government projects.
She said such attitudes had led to the delivery of poor services by some contractors in the region.
She expressed shock at the works at Kalwelwe Primary School where concrete floors of some classroom blocks had been damaged due to poor workmanship of the contractor.
Ms Mutale challenged all public service workers across the province to take ownership of all developmental projects to ensure that the people received better services.
“I am calling on public workers in the province to monitor developmental projects, take responsibility and ensure that they supervise the contractors to avoid shoddy works”, Ms Mutale said.
She said the contractor engaged to build the one-by-three classroom block at the school should be traced and made to redo the works which were done in 2008.
Bwacha Constituency Member of Parliament Sydney Mushanga said the health and school facilities in the area catered for over 6, 000 people.
