Chinese festival goes to Levy Junction

THE Chinese Embassy and the Chinese community in Zambia will this Saturday hold its third Spring Festival Temple Fair at the Levy Junction Shopping Mall in Lusaka.
The Chinese Spring Festival Temple Fair, which was first held in 2012 in Zambia, represents the beginning of the Chinese Lunar New Year, which is the most important and popular traditional Chinese festival.
Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Yang Youming told Journalists at a media nbriefing in Lusaka on Monday that the event will be held between 10:00
hours and 19:00 hours whose admission will be free.
“To promote friendship, cultural exchanges and mutual understanding nbetween the Chinese and Zambian people, the Chinese Embassy and the Chinese community in Zambia will, for the third time since 2012, organise the 2015 Chinese Spring Festival Temple Fair in Zambia at Levy Junction,” Ambassador Yang said.
The activities will include a gala show, Chinese cuisine, interactive games and fireworks display.
The gala show will involve lion and dragon dances, Martial Arts, acrobatics and magic, Chinese traditional opera, folk songs and dances performed by Chinese and Zambia artistes.
The Chinese cuisine encompasses a number of Chinese restaurants based in Lusaka who will be invited to set up food stands at the Fair to offer a wide variety of authentic Chinese food at a fee.
Children are invited to participate in interactive games and lucky winners will be awarded small gifts while the fireworks display will be at 18:30 hours. The site will be lit and decorated by powerful and colourful fireworks made in China.
