650 health posts to be ready 2016

THE Ministry of Health has said construction of the 650 health posts countrywide will be completed in April 2016.?Ministry of Health spokesperson Reuben Mbewe said construction works on 155 sites across the country had commenced and that 78 sites were at slab level.
Dr Mbewe said the 650 health posts were being built at a total of US$55.9 million of which $5.9 million was from the Zambian Government.
The contractors are Jaguar Overseas Limited, Angelique international and Megha Engineering Limited.?Dr Mbewe said 208 health posts were being constructed by Jaguar Overseas in the Copperbelt, Central and Eastern provinces. The 208 health posts would be constructed a total cost $19.4 million.
He said Angelique International Limited would build 247 health posts in Luapula, North-Western, Northern and Muchinga provinces. These health posts would be constructed at a cost $18.1 million.
Megha Engineering Limited would construct 195 health posts in Western, Southern and Lusaka provinces, and that $18.3 million would be spent on these posts.
Meanwhile, completion of phase two of Senanga School of Nursing would complete next month.
Dr Mbewe said that phase one of the school of nursing had since finished with the first enrollment for students schedule for June this year.
The school has been built at a total cost of K14 million with funds from the United States and Zambian governments.
Dr Mbewe also said that the Ministry of Health would soon start recruiting health personnel.?“The Ministry of Health was allocated K23,650,000 and will start with the recruitment process as soon as the funds are made available to the ministry,” he said.
