By CATHERINE NYIRENDA –

MMD president Nevers Mumba has supported Presidents Michael Sata’s call for Zambians to appreciate God and celebrate this Christmas with thanksgiving, reconciliation, good deeds, love and compassion for one another.

Dr Mumba said President Sata’s message was timely, especially with the alleged political differences within the Patriotic Front (PF) and the nation at large.

He said Zambians were ready to reconcile and hoped that President Sata and all the PF leaders and members were ready for reconciliation too.

Dr Mumba said Zambia had always been a haven of peace and that people respected views held by others.

He said Christmas was a period of reflection on one’s individual life and their personal walk with Jesus Christ.

He hoped that the call for reconciliation by the President would not only be political rhetoric but should be accompanied by action.

In his Christmas message, President Sata said the people should take deep reflection on the country’s achievement so far and keep on praying for God’s favour and guidance in the years to come.

Mr Sata said Zambians should always remember that it was God’s divine intervention that had made it possible for the country to continue enjoying peace and stability since independence.

He commended the important role the church had always undertaken in praying and interceding for peace and unity in Zambia.
