Ndola court fines two Congolese for unlawful stay

THE Ndola magistrate court has fined two Congolese men K3,000 each for unlawful stay.
The same Court has also fined a 35-year-old Congolese woman K2,800 for a similar offence.
Immigration Department public relations officer Namati Nshinka confirmed this in a statement yesterday.
Mr Nshinka said the Kitwe magistrate court fined two Congolese K3,500 each for unlawful stay.
“The magistrate’s court in Kabwe also convicted and sentenced eight Ethiopians to a fine of K1,000 each or in default six months simple imprisonment for a similar offence,” he said.
In Lusaka, the magistrate’s court convicted two Tanzanians for unlawful stay, sentencing one to a fine of K1,000 and the other to a fine of K 1,000.
Mr Nshinka said the same court also convicted and fined a Congolese K500 for a similar offence.
“The same court convicted and sentenced a Congolese refugee to a fine of K1,000 or in default three months simple imprisonment for living outside the refugee camp without authority,” he said.
In Mansa, the magistrate’s court fined a Ugandan K500 and K1,000 for unlawful stay  and engaging in employment without a permit respectively.
“The Isoka magistrate’s court convicted and sentenced a Tanzanian to a fine of  K4,500 for unlawful entry.
“The same court also convicted and fined four Burundese K2,500 each or in default 6 months simple imprisonment for a similar offence,” he said.
In Nchelenge, the magistrate’s court convicted four Congolese and gave them suspended sentences for unlawful entry.
