ISRAEL, who was popularly known as Exile before switching from secular to gospel music, says he does not regret taking the holy path.
Israel, whose real name is Kangwa Kampamba,  says God has been gracious to him and has opened doors for him ever since the So Lucky star made the transition from Exile to Israel (became born-again) and thus would not want to backslide.
In an interview with the Times Weekend Entertainment, Israel said the decision he had made was not an easy one but now he is enjoying the fruits of doing so, and that is why he does not regret being born-again.
“God has been graceful and really, it’s not something that’s been easy but you know, it’s been good and God has made things possible in my life. He has opened doors so I am not worried.
“So for me, it’s been a good walk in Christ and I don’t regret anything,” Exile said.
While still (in) Exile, Kangwa was and is today famous for secular hit songs like So Lucky, Kumvela nimvela, Teti, Siku yalelo, among others. He has since released a gospel album called (From) Exile to Israel.
On not winning any award at this year’s Mosi Lager Zambian Music Awards, Israel had no hard feelings but was happy for the winners, saying when it comes to gospel music, it’s not about competition but spreading the word of God.
