GOSPEL outfit Rock of Escape has great expectation of the future.
The Lusaka-based contemporary rock group is spreading the message of the Kingdom through its music.
Co-led by a brother and sister Joshua and Zipporah Jere, the band started in 2005 as a duet, the band consists of  Eleazer  Chisenga ( Keyboard and  backing vocals), Chisomo Mbao (vocals), Kondanani Jere (drums)  and Gracious Chisenga  (bass guitar).
So far the band has recorded and released three albums namely, Rock of Escape (2007), Abyss of Despair (2009) and Your Kingdom come (2012). Two of their video’s Shake it off me and one for one where nominated for the born and bred awards in 2009.
They have also sung at various events such as the UNWTO events in Livingstone in 2013 as well as worked with Share international doing various HIV and Aids sensitization programmes.
The band has one purpose and that is to impact its generation with authentic worship and Praise. Running with a motto, Never compromise to be recognised, the band is determined to make a difference and bring hope to a dying world.
“Serving God and living a life of worship calls for a heart and life that is set apart. You cannot be at any platform or do anything just because you want to have fame,” say Jere.
Jere a fulltime worship leader believes there is much more to what the band could accomplish.
“The Lord spoke to me clearly and told me that he needed me to go out there minister through music. It wasn’t easy because that meant that I had to lose my job that was helping me to take care of the family,” he said.
After making up his mind, he took a plunge and established Rock of Escape. In collaboration with with ALAC World Changers a faith based organisation, the band visited Kamanga Township in Lusaka and donated food and clothing to the needy.
Ultimately, Rock of Escape is about impacting the world.
