Letters to the Editor -LogoJUST a glimpse at this week’s headlines, I was made sick.
For those of you who might not understand what I mean, have a look at some of the headlines that made news this week
Wednesday’s paper: Man goes in 35 years for defiling his Daughter, Man in court for defiling his step daughter,
Thursday’s paper: Mansa prophet rapes epileptic girl, Builder jailed 15 yrs for rape, Defiler (15) infects girl (8) with an STI.
Imagine the rate at which the scourge is happening, one would wonder what has gone wrong with the people?
The girl child is no longer safe even under the roof she calls home.
Previously, this never used to happen, but now the custodians of these defenceless girls and women are being defiled or raped every day.
With the hardships in the country, when their breadwinners molest them, do you think the extended family would take custody of the poor souls?
Come on my fellow Zambians let us not behave like wild animals which have sex with their relatives.
We are created in the image of God, because of this blessing, we are able to distinguish between the bad and good.
How can a man force himself on his own flesh and blood?
How can a man force himself on his stepdaughter, the one who regards him as her own father knowing that he is the husband to her mother?
I would like to take this opportunity to urge the Non Governmental Organisations and our First Lady Ester Lungu to use their opportunity of educating the Zambians as they go round the nation.

Landlords, tenants vs ZRA

THE complaints over the requirement for Landlords to pay the withholding tax have left me wondering why Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) did not implement this legislature.
People are complaining today over a legislature that has been there for a long time due to ZRA’s failure to implement it.
However, landlords and tenants should negotiate the monthly rentals and agree on who remits the tax to ZRA on behalf of the other.
Requirement for Landlords to remit withholding tax for all I know has been there for a long time and as to why ZRA waited to enforce it vigorously now is what begs an explanation.
Just like the council by law for indiscriminate disposal of waste, urinating or/and spitting in public which is not being implemented.
