Education Deputy Minister Sydney Mushanga has commended BSBK Construction Company, the contractor working on Makululu secondary school in Kabwe, for the quality of works.
Mr Mushanga said it was gratifying to see the commitment and quality of work by the contractor despite not being paid the full amount by the Government.
“It is gratifying to see the commitment by the contractor working on the school, who has not abandoned the project despite delayed payments, I hope our local contractors will emulate him,” Mr Mushanga said.
Mr Mushanga said the construction of the secondary school would reduce the burden of covering long distances by the pupils in the area.
“I want to take this opportunity to assure the people of Makululu of Government’s commitment to education for all,” Mr Mushanga said.
Mr Mushanga added that the school would add value to the area and more young people would have access to education.
He has since assured the contractor that Government will release funds in the next few weeks.
Meanwhile, site manager Manasi Jebasinga said the works were progressing well and that the school would be handed over next year.
Mr Jebasinga said the contract was for 18 months and that the building would be completed and handed over on time.
Lazarus Mutapa, a builder at the school, thanked the Government for creating employment for the locals.
Mr Mutapa said he was happy with the project as he and his friends now had income to support their families.
