PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has dissolved the sub committees of the Patriotic Front (PF) central committee.

PF Deputy Secretary General Mumbi Phiri said yesterday that all the sub committees of the central committee have been dissolved except for the elections committee chairperson Emmanuel Mpakata’s position.
Ms Phiri said Mr Mpakata remained in office so that he could facilitate the intra party elections.
“We are having elections starting from the branch level. So the chairman of elections has to handle that,” she said.
Ms Phiri said the central committee was intact but it was the positions of the sub committees that have been dissolved.
Some of the subcommittees are for youth, lands and education.
Ms Phiri said President Lungu had the discretion to appoint committee members.
She said he would make fresh appointments when he found it fit to do so.
Meanwhile, PF is confident of scooping all the three by-elections slated for June 30.
Ms Phiri said the party will win the Petauke central, Malambo and Mulobezi constituencies because it is undertaking many developmental projects across the country.
