THE World Health Organisation (WHO) is impressed with the positive strides Zambia has made in the health sector and has promised to assist in further improving the sector.
Visiting WHO Africa Region director Matshidiso Moeti said his organisation was willing to continue partnering with Zambia in a bid to further improve the country’s health sector.

He said this when she paid a courtesy call on Health Minister Joseph Kasonde at Ndeke House in Lusaka yesterday.
Dr Moeti, who is in Zambia on her first official visit since being elected to her position, said she was happy to be back in the country where she once worked for close to two years and observed that the country had improved and developed much since her last visit.
“I am very pleased to have this opportunity to visit Zambia to celebrate not only the partnership between WHO, the Government and the people of Zambia but also really to celebrate the achievements of this country in health.
“And just to say that we are very committed to continuing this partnership that has evolved over the last half a century and to making it even better,” Dr Moeti said.
Dr Moeti said besides coming to celebrate the Zambia and WHO’s 50-year old collaboration and progress in the health sector, she was in the country to be furnished with information on the country’s priority areas and the needs in the health sector which would required WHO’s support.
