Police capBy REBECCA MUSHOTA –

POLICE have picked up 20 pig carcasses in Kanyama Township which are suspected to have been poisoned in a bid to be sold to unsuspecting residents.
One person has been arrested in connection with the 20 carcasses which were found at an undeveloped property belonging to a Somalian only known as Mr Simba.
Lusaka Province Commissioner of Police, Charity Katanga confirmed the arrest in an interview on Wednesday.
She said there was a practice in Kanyama Township in which some people poisoned pigs before stealing the carcasses to sell them.
“The concern here is that these pigs are killed by way of poisoning and once unsuspecting members of the public buy them, their health is endangered,” Ms Katanga said.
She said one person found at the scene, Victor Mudenda, 26, was arrested and charged with stock theft.
Two other people found at the scene bolted after police officers raided the property although officers have launched a man hunt.
The owner of the property was not found at the scene but was summoned by police to help with investigations.
