THE Zambia Tourism Board (ZTB) wants the Government to review the visa system to ensure a friendlier regime is introduced.
In its annual report, the board heightened the lobbying for the review system in 2014 to ensure a friendlier visa regime was introduced.
The report said this was mainly focused on the review of visa charges for selected source markets and the introduction of online application in order for Zambia to become more competitive in the source markets.
It says that progress on the visa review in 2014 was minimal as the year closed without an online visa application system being introduced.
ZTB chairperson Mark O’Donnell  said the removal of the yellow fever vaccination certification requirement by South Africa would yield positive development in the Zambian tourism sector.
Mr O’Donnell said this would boost international tourism arrivals by at least 10 per cent this year.
“We consider this to be a major milestone as it was one of the biggest barriers to arrivals to Zambia considering that South Africa remains the key source market for visitors into Zambia,” he said.
Mr O’Donnell said the year 2014 was a turning point with the introduction of the Univisa and the scrapping of the yellow fever certification requirement by South Africa.
