Auditor’s body, ACCA ink deal

THE Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Zambia Chapter has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) aimed at advancing internal auditing and accounting practices.
The MoU will allow members attempt to one challenge examination towards receiving IIA’s prestigious Certified Internal Auditors (CIA) qualification.
CIA certification is the highest qualification for internal auditors, it enables one to practice accounting and auditing anywhere around the world.
IIA Zambia Chapter Secretary Lubinda Namiluko said in an interview that the Zambia chapter had entered into an MoU with ACCA to allow its members attempt one challenge examination instead of three in acquiring the CIA certification designate.
“Instead of writing all the three parts in CIA, a member of IIA can write one part and acquire a CIA certification designate and practice anywhere around the world,” he said.
Mr Namiluko added that the CIA certification was meant to empower candidates and enable them be well knowledgeable in their field.
He  said  the MoU  will be  officially launched on July 28  this  year at Southern Sun Hotel in Lusaka and would be  glanced  by Secretary  to the  Treasury Fredson Yamba.
Mr Namiluko said IIA Zambia chapter had 320 members countrywide.
He added that the Zambia chapter was working on regularising an act of Parliament which will allow practitioners to be regulated.
He said the Zambia chapter was also working on establishing a permanent office at the Lusaka Museum.
