THE African Development Bank (AfDB) is satisfied with infrastructure proposed for use during its annual meeting slated for Lusaka next year.
The meeting which is slated for May 23 to 27, is expected to attract 5, 000 delegates from across the globe.
AfDB secretary general and vice Cecilia Akintomide said the infrastructure in Zambia was of required international standard and capable of hosting a major event that will benefit the country economically.
Ms Akintomide said this in Lusaka yesterday after a tour of Mulungushi International Conference Centre, which has been designated as the main venue for the event.
She was in the company of Ministry of Finance officials led by public relations officer Chileshe Kandeta.
“We are pleased with the facilities more so from the perspective that one such as this (Mulungushi) is connected to the history associated with most parts of the African continent,” she said.
She noted that the area surrounding Mulungushi accommodated hotels, transport facilities and other amenities that would be user friendly to the delegates.
Ms Akintomide said the bank was also identifying how young Zambian entrepreneurs could benefit from the country hosting the event.
