A FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD girl has been electrocuted in Kabwe’s Chowa Township as she attempted to open a refrigerator.
The girl, identified as Taonga Chanda, was electrocuted and thrown to the ground after she tried to open the fridge and was pronounced dead on arrival at Railways Clinic.
Central Province Police chief Lombe Kamukoshi, who confirmed the incident yesterday, said police and Zesco officers had since visited the accident scene and she was awaiting a detailed report.
She said investigations had been instituted to establish what happened.
In another incident, one person died on the spot while 12 others sustained injuries following an accident involving a Scania bus and two trucks in Kapiri Mposhi District on Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened when the driver of the bus registration number ABF4062, Sydney Kalungal, failed to maintain his lane and collided with a truck, registration number AAX  2411- AAL 1311T driven by Patrick Mambwe.
The bus was later hit by another Tanzanian truck registration number T992 AYH T615 AYF driven by Aloyce Juma.
Ms Kamukoshi said a lorry mate from the first truck identified as Fred Kakaya died on the spot while the bus driver’s wife sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Kapiri Mposhi District Hospital.
Eleven passangers from the bus were treated and discharged while the vehicles were extensively damaged.
