Ms Willner was speaking in Lusaka yesterday upon her arrival with four other Swedish Members of Parliament (MP’s) at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.
The delegation, which was received by Zambia’s Deputy Ambassador to Sweden Anthony Mukwita, is in the country for a six day visit to appreciate the opportunities and challenges associated with sexual reproductive health rights in Southern Africa.
Other members of the delegation include; Annika Lillemets, Karin Ragsjo and Christina Ornebjar.
“Zambia has been very progressive in the area of facilitating sexual reproductive health and it is a good partner in this regard.
“Our visit is aimed at engaging the local people and sharing information to find ways of addressing new challenges,” she said.
Swedish opposition Centre party MP Ola Johansson, said Zambia held women in high esteem and was committed to promoting equal access to sexual reproductive health.
“Zambia is a good example of a country that supports equal access to maternal health care. We will be visiting some Swedish companies operating here to appreciate how this is being achieved through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR),” he said.
Mr Johansson urged couples to talk freely about family planning to enhance access to basic needs for every individual at household level.
Meanwhile, Mr Mukwita said Zambia and Sweden share common ground in recognition of the roles that both men and women play in society.
He described the visit of the Swedish delegation as a milestone for the country’s international profile which has improved following the election of President Edgar Lungu.
“Sweden is a model of how women can perform in positions of influence and we cherish this visit because it will enhance our relations which date back to 50 years,” he said.
