THE Zambia Jubilee Coalition (ZJC) has condemned the continued ill-criticism leveled against the Head of State on the current economic challenges the country is facing.
ZJC vice-president Isaac Kibombwe said it was a well-known fact that the current Kwacha depreciation was a global phenomenon resulting from the strengthening of the United States (US) economy and challenges in the Chinese economy, which is the major trading partner of Zambia.
Mr Kibombwe said ZJC supported the measures that President Edgar Lungu and the Government had put in place to ensure stability in the economy, at the same time strengthening the local currency.
He said in a statement released yesterday that it was the responsibility of all well-meaning Zambians to support President Lungu by adhering to the guidance he had continued to give on important national matters instead of taking a confrontational stance.
Mr Kibombwe also said Zambians owning businesses should ensure they exported products and services to the outside world so that the country could earn the much-needed foreign exchange.
“Zambia as a country needs everyone to come together at this critical time and work together as our current challenges do not affect one political party, tribe or religion but all of us collectively.
“All of us should stand up and be counted by providing solutions rather than standing in the terraces and making mockery of a situation that we are facing. No one is wiser than all of us, therefore, we can together do a lot as a united people,” he said.
Mr Kibombwe said Zambia belonged to everybody, thus expecting the President to solve all the problems the country was facing in the little space of time he had been in office was unrealistic.
He urged members of the public to give the President time to work and address the challenges the country was facing to ensure it got back on track and provided the livelihood that the people in the nation deserved.
