LECTURERS at the University of Pretoria in South Africa are singing praises on the academic and golfing performance of the two junior Zambian golfers who are on a four-year scholarship at the institution.
The two are lanky Timothy Sondashi and Mukuka Mwango Jnr who are in their second semester of the first year.
Zambia Junior Golf Association (ZJGA) director Aloysius Phiri, who at the weekend visited the duo, said the lecturers at the university were impressed with the progress made by Sondashi and Mwango.
“I was in South Africa over the weekend to see how our two boys are doing and I must say they are doing quite well. Their lecturers were also saying a lot of good things about the boys and this is quite encouraging for us,” he said.
Phiri said apart from their impressive performance in golf, the two were of good character with outstanding personalities.
He said ZJGA would continue to monitor the performance of the two so that they could help in the development of golf in Zambia.
Phiri said their performance would also open doors for more Zambians to get scholarships at the instutition.
He hinted that ZJGA was currently working on two more scholarships but that the details would only be released once everything was finalised.
