THE Ministry of Agriculture is mobilising resources to build the capacity of youths, especially orphans in agricultural activities.
Agriculture Deputy Minister Maxas Ng’onga said yesterday that the ministry was mobilising resources to set up programmes that would have youths involved in non-traditional farming.
Mr Ng’onga was speaking yesterday at Grace Ministries Mission International, Exploits Mission Centre at the commemoration of the orphan and building Sunday.
“The ministry has an ambitious programme to empower the youth, including the orphans, by way of building capacity in agricultural activities,” he said.
Mr Ng’onga said the Government had many agricultural programmes that the youth could take advantage of like the subsidy of farming inputs.
He said he was grateful that the church was involved in taking care of orphans.
This was supplementing the Government’s efforts.
Mr Ng’onga was also happy that the church was building a bigger sanctuary as that would mean that more people would be accommodated in the church building.
Exploits Mission Bishop John Ng’andu said that October was a month of liberty for all Zambians.
He said the liberty meant that citizens should show love for one another, including orphans.
Bishop Ng’andu said the devil would raise a number of people to speak against the good things that came with liberty but that Christians should unite and conquer the plans of the enemy.
He said Zambians this month should show love and kindness to one another, especially that the country had been declared a Christian Nation.
