UNKNOWN people have broken into the Ministry of Lands offices in Kabwe and got away with five computers less than a month after seven computers were stolen from the Immigration Department.
The thieves, who entered through the toilet window before breaking the door, only targeted the computers.
Central Province police chief, Lombe Kamukoshi confirmed the break-in stating that investigations had been instituted.
I can confirm that we have recorded a case in which five computers were stolen from the Ministry of Lands offices, no arrests or recovery has been made,” she said.
The theft is suspected to have occurred between 8th and 11th January and police suspect that it could be an inside job.
This is the second time people are stealing computers from the Ministry of Lands with two having been stolen last year.
Recently, seven computers were stolen from Immigration Department in Kabwe, paralysing operations.
Thieves have targeted Government institutions and the Magistrates’ Court.
Central Province Permanent Secretary Edwidge Mutale appealed to police to step up investigations to bring the culprits to book.
