By JAMES KUNDA –
THE Association of Zambians living in Ethiopia has committed itself to marketing the country’s investment potential in all the economic sectors.
Newly-elected chairperson of the organisation, Jack Zulu said his focus would be on building and consolidating the efforts of his predecessor, Samuel Bwalya.
Mr Zulu said this in his inaugural speech after the association ushered in a new executive committee recently.
This is according to a statement released yesterday by first secretary for Press and tourism at the Zambian Embassy in Addis Ababa, Naomi Chulu.
Mr Zulu said he would endeavour to support the work of the embassy by ensuring that the association became a conduit for promoting investments in Zambia.
“He noted the strategic location of Addis Ababa as a transit city and the large number of Government leaders who travelled into the country.
“The association will take advantage of Ethiopia being a transit country to engage Zambian leaders on some of the developmental issues that the country needs to undertake,” the statement read in part.
Former association chairperson, Dr Bwalya expressed satisfaction at the positive response by the Zambian Diaspora in ensuring that the rights of the Zambians living in Ethiopia were improved.
He said the Zambian community in that country was committed to investing back home and add value to the economy.

Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Susan Sikaneta said the association had continued to contribute immensely towards the formulation of the Diaspora Policy.
She praised the association for being helpful in mobilising Zambians during national events and ensuring that all the programmes were well organised.
