JAMES Banda, better known as Red Linso of the Zigi-Zigi, fame is optimistic the music industry in Zambia has the potential of creating employment for the youth once it is appreciated.
Red Linso says if the artistes were taken seriously and well appreciated then the industry would be boosted and be able to provide employment for the many youth in Zambia.
As such the artiste echoes Maiko Zulu’s plea that the industry should be well regulated and laid down laws should be implemented.
He added that if this has to happen, artistes should be given the money and respect they deserve.
The artiste said he had noticed that in most instances the money artistes are given was always a mockery.
Red Linso suggested that artistes should be represented by an independent union that will address the issues affecting them and in that way development will be realised within the industry.
He explained that if the industry was well regulated it would have contributed to economic growth by now.
“People need to begin to respect the arts in Zambia and when this happens we will see growth in the economy.
Meanwhile, Red Linso has announced the release of his new album this year.
He says the album is a dedication to the orphans and the vulnerable children (OVC) .
The Lusaka-based singer said he knows how it feels to lack basic needs thats why  he came up with the album.
He advised muscians to come on board and help the Government to help reduce poverty levels among the OVC.
“Children are the future leaders so we should be able to build them and help better their lives so that they become responsible citizens of this nation,” he said.
