ZCCM Investment Holdings (ZCCM-IH) Plc has recorded an operating loss of K2, 179 million in 2015, compared to K871 million profits realised the previous year in 2014.
This is according to financial results for the year ended March 2015, posted on the Lusaka Stock Exchange (LuSE), which indicated the operating loss made last year.
The financial statement stated that ZCCM-IH made a turnover of K242 million in 2015 compared to K1, 001 million in 2014.
In the period under review, the group reported a loss before tax of K1, 329 million compared to the previous year where it made a profit of K362 million.
“The group recorded a loss after tax of K987 million in 2015 compared to K362 million profit in 2014. The group’s share of profit of equity accounted to investees was K281 million compared to K537 million in 2014,” reads the statement in part.
It further indicated that the group’s equity attributable to shareholders as at March 31, last year, was positive at K7, 370 million compared to K8, 005 million in 2014.
The dividend declared for 2014 was paid out in the third quarter of the year.
ZCCM-IH is involved in undertaking investment analysis and aligning the company’s operations towards maximising returns to shareholders.
This is done through pursuing investee companies to consistently declare reasonable dividends, company growth and ensuring effective representation on the boards of the investee companies.
It is also involved in the establishing and securing of joint venture partnerships for projects assessed to be viable and promoting Zambian ownership and management in mining assets.
The Company’s divisions are manufacturing of lime, mining, power distribution and Investment business.
Government is the majority shareholder in ZCCM-IH and the company’s principal activities include managing the Zambian Government’s stake in the mining sector.
