SOME members of the Patriotic Front (PF) in Bwana Mkubwa Constituency in Ndola have appealed to the Central Committee not to impose on them a candidate who is unpopular.
The members said if the Central Committee decides to field a candidate who is not known by the people, the party risked losing the seat to the opposition.
Kangombe branch secretary Leonard Molobeka said the members were aware that the PF wanted to field a candidate who was not popular with the constituents and that the decision would not work to the advantage of the ruling party.
Mr Molobeka said the PF members wanted Warren Mwambazi to stand as parliamentary candidate.
He said the Central Committee should also listen to the people on the ground.
“For us as PF members from Bwana Mkubwa, we want the Central Committee to give us the person who is popular and has been working with the people on the ground. We want Mr Mwambazi and not the person we hear has been adopted,” he said.
And Mushili Ward information and publicity secretary, Marble Mweemba said it was disheartening to note that some members within the party were engaged to back certain candidates.
She said it was not right for members to engage in corrupt practices when seeking to be adopted to stand as Parliamentarians or councillors.
Ms Mweemba appealed to the Central Committee to help bring sanity in the party during the campaign period.
