Bandits abduct Chavuma postmaster, make away with K150,000

TWO armed criminals in Chavuma District of the North Western Province in the early hours of yesterday briefly abducted a Zambia Postal Services (ZAMPOST) post master from his house and later took him to his office where they got away with over K150,000 cash.
The incident which happened around 02:00 hours yesterday happened after the two criminals armed with unknown types of firearms forcibly entered the post master’s house and ordered to be taken to the his office where there got away with K157,000.
North Western Province police Chief Lackson Sakala who confirmed the development said the attackers also shot in the air to scare the victim from raising alarm.
“I can confirm that we are investigating the case in which some suspected bandits attacked and robbed a post matter and later got away with K157, 000,”he said.
Mr Sakala said upon on arrival at the Post Office, the post master who was held at gun point by the attackers was ordered to open the safe.
The thieves later tied the victim. Investigations into the matter has been instituted to bring the culprits to book and the police chief asked members of public to be alert and assist bring to book those involved.
He said that no arrest or recovery of the money has so far been made.
