PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has assured Zambians that every part of the country will receive a fair share of development as long as the Patriotic Front (PF) remains in power.
Mr Lungu said he was a president for all Zambians and thus he would not deny any part of the country development even if they did not vote for him.
Addressing a huge rally at Mutendere Ground in Kafue yesterday, President Lungu observed that Zambia was one country and thus he did not want other parts of the country to be developed while others lagged behind.
“I want to assure you that no part of Zambia will remain undeveloped as long as we remain in power,” he said.
President Lungu assured Kafue residents that the development which was being experienced in Lusaka and Western provinces, among other areas, such as township roads would be extended to the district and turning Kafue District Council into a Municipal Council.
President Lungu said he would engage the Ministry of Finance to ensure that it pumped in more money into Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia to revamp it.
He also pledged to tackle unemployment and look into the challenges of retirees in Kafue.
President Lungu noted that his predecessor the late Michael Sata had taught the party to ensure that development benefitted the poor as well and not restricting it to the rich.
President Lungu reiterated his warning against experimenting with leadership as voting for other candidates who had never even served as councillors before risked retarding development as they would take time to learn how to govern the country.
President Lungu further cautioned the electorate against voting for candidates who did not respect them and did not listen to their advice which he said was an attribute of poor leadership.
Mr Lungu also implored PF cadres not to react violently once provoked by the opposition, but to instead forgive their enemies and report them to the police whom he commended for working hard in controlling political violence perpetrators the past week.
“In PF we love peace, so when you vote for PF, you are voting for peace. When UPND attacks you, refrain from fighting back lest you destroy the country,” he said.
Speaking at the same rally, former vice-president Enock Kavindele observed that the amount of development the PF Government had garnered in the last five years was unprecedented, citing the increase in number of public universities, health facilities as classic examples.
Christian Democratic Party leader Dan Pule said President Lungu was a God-fearing leader and thus implored all the Christians in the country to fast and pray for peace and the PF to win the general elections for 40 days starting on July 4, this year.
PF secretary-general Davies Chama, President Lungu’s campaign chairperson Samuel Mukupa, former Kabwe member of Parliament Austin Chewe and leaders of the 16 political parties which have backed the ruling party, besides Kafue adopted candidates, were among other speakers.
