The Zambian embassy in Beijing has embarked on a Business, Cultural and Tourism Road show in which the country intends to market itself.
First secretary for education, tourism and culture Nambula Wamulungwe said the idea of the road show was meant to re-brand Zambia in China so that the country’s visibility is felt.
He said the programme, in partnership with the Global Communication and Corporation Company, will sponsor the events to be held in China from September to October 2016, with the grand finale scheduled for Zambia’s Independence Day.
Mr Wamulungwe was speaking at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport after the arrival of a 22-member technical team from China on a mission to assess the areas of marketing Zambia in China.
Technical team leader Wang Laping said her team was delighted to be in Zambia to work with their local counterparts so that they come up with a formidable programme that would help market Zambia in China.
She said the Chinese people were interested in visiting Zambia to appreciate its rich tourism and cultural treasure, as well as put up some investment which would help boost the national economy.
Ms Wang said her team was interested in investing in Zambia and would build on the existing cooperation between the two countries.
The technical team is representing organisations such as New Frame Beijing Film and Culture Media Co. Ltd, Beijing Qing Mini Video Studio, Photographers’ Association, She Zhou Magazine, Institute of Journalism and Communication, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Economic Information Daily and Hu Bei Daily.
