THE Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) in Chifubu Constituency of Ndola has pledged to support and vote for President Edgar Lungu and aspiring Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Frank N’gambi in the forthcoming general elections.
MMD Ndola District chairperson Joseph Chileshe said the entire MMD leadership in the Constituency would campaign and support the candidature of President Lungu and the party in the elections to cement the alliance between the two parties.
Mr Chileshe said the MMD would work tirelessly and ensure that President Lungu, Mr N’gambi and all the councillors on the PF ticket were voted into office.
He said this during a joint press briefing between the MMD and PF at Mpezeni Hall in Chifubu yesterday.
“We as MMD under the leadership of our president Felix Mutati in Chifubu Constituency, we stand to campaign and rally behind the PF, President Lungu and Mr N’gambi. We will vote for them and ensure that they win in the forthcoming general elections,” he said.
Mr N’gambi commended the opposition MMD for coming out in the open to pledge their support for the ruling PF.
He said it was such alliances with ‘giant’ political parties like MMD that would help the PF win with an outright victory.
Mr N’gambi said such an alliance would usher President Lungu back into State House without any difficulties.
He urged the MMD executive and members to freely interact with the PF and find ways of strategising during the campaigns.
“Firstly, I would like to commend the PF for giving me a chance to stand as MP on the party’s ticket and, secondly, let me thank the MMD for their support.
“Through such an alliance the PF will win with an outright victory. Let us work together and ensure that President Lungu is ushered back into State House,” he said.
