By REBECCA MUSHOTA in Chienge –
PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has said that it is impossible for United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema to ‘fix’ anything because he has failed to fix his own party.
Meanwhile, President Lungu has said the Government will confer Mununga with district status.
Mr Lungu said Mr Hichilema was claiming that he wanted to be elected because he was able to fix things in Zambia and yet he was unable to fix the UPND.
Mr Hichilema’s slogan in the August general elections is that he will ‘fix’ Zambia.
President Lungu told a rally in Lambwe Chomba in Chienge yesterday that it was impossible for Mr Hichilema to fix anything as could be seen by his party that was falling apart from the time he took over as party president.
“From the time he took over, he has lost Members of Parliament (MPs) and supporters while I have been gaining. So what can he fix?” Mr Lungu asked.
He said it was equally amusing that the UPND president was claiming to fix things when nothing was broken.
Zambia, under the PF Government had improved tremendously and the party required the next term to wrap up its various projects.
President Lungu said the PF intended to construct a road in the area to help the farming community  to transport their produce.

He urged the residents to vote for the PF candidate Abel Musonda.
Earlier in Lupiya border area in Chienge, President Lungu told a rally that the Government would construct the Kashikishi-Chienge Road.
The Head of State said the Government had already signed a contract with the contractor.
The Government is also working on constructing the Luchinde-Kaputa Road.
A contract has been signed with China Henan.
The President also directed the Ministry of Health to start planning for a first-level hospital.
In Mununga area, Mr Lungu said he would make Mununga a district.
He said he would hold discussions with the authorities to ensure that this happened.
This was promised to the people of Mununga by late President Michael Sata.
The district would give residents access to facilities like hospitals.
He assured the people of Mununga that the Chienge Road was going to be built by 2021.
Meanwhile, Chieftainess Lambwe Chali yesterday blessed Mr Lungu with ‘Umwala Wampemba’ a white cloth and a white stone to grant him authority and purity.
The chieftainess told President Lungu that it was like a dream to see the President because so many leaders shunned the place as it was far.
Chieftainess Lambwe Chali said that showed the Patriotic Front had a heart for all.
She urged the Government to work on the road, electricity, police post and a communications tower.
Chief Mununga in Nchelenge District assured President Lungu that he was winning the August presidential election.
He said when the President paid a courtesy call on him yesterday that Mr Lungu had not deviated from the vision of the PF founding president, Michael Sata.
Chief Mununga said there was, therefore, need for traditional leaders to work together to foster development.
The traditional leader also urged the President to deal with political violence in Zambia.
