Power 2 Nchanga 0
POWER Dynamos sneaked into third place on the MTN-FAZ Super League after a comfortable home win over Nchanga Rangers to move within one point of Nkana, who dropped precious points in the title race.
The result was also sweet revenge over Rangers who handed Power their first league defeat this season on March 26 in Chingola that the Kitwe side lost 2-1.
Power moved to 34 points displacing Zesco United from third spot to stay unbeaten in five matches under new coach Danny Kabwe after raking in three successive wins with one draw.
Power were all over Rangers yesterday and scoring in each half while the woodwork conspired to deny them a third goal.
Patson Daka put Power 1-0 into the break after beating goalkeeper Joel Kambili to a 50-50 ball in the 34th minute to net his second of the season.
Larry Bwalya then hit the post in the 44th minute after earlier seeing his 8th minute goal ruled-out for an infringement by referee Allan Simukonda.
Kennedy Mudenda scored the final goal in the 47th minute after stomping in the ball off a cross from Bwalya.
Rangers had what they thought was a genuine penalty call in the 85th minute denied when Power goalkeeper Joshua Titima cluttered Simon Nkhata to the ground but referee Simukonda saw it otherwise.
Eagles 0 Nkana 0
Pressure continues to mount on coach Aggrey Chiyangi after Nkana failed to make ground on leaders Zanaco to remain eight points adrift the bankers while Choma moved to 18 points.
Nkwazi 1 Wanderers 1
Nkwazi captain Steward Chikandiwa scored a stoppage time header to deny Paulo Silva from picking his second straight win with ‘Mighty’ Mufulira Wanderers, reports SANDRA MWILA from Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
Rahim Osumanu gave Wanderers the lead in the 69th minute with a shot off Erick Chibuye pass sending their fans into wild celebrations including Silva, who joined in dancing with the players.
But Wanderers crumbled towards the final minutes of the added four minutes allowing Chikandiwa to head in the ball from a Justin Shonga free-kick to move into eighth position with 24 points, one ahead of their visitors.
Forest 0 Nakambala 1
Felix Bulaya’s solo strike in the 11th minute was enough for a plucky Nakambala Leopards to pinch all three points away at Forest Rangers in Ndola, reports SAMUEL LUKHANDA from Levy Mwanawasa.
Bulaya beat Forest midseason acquisition goalkeeper Joel Kanyemba when a tamely cleared ball landed invitingly for him to score as Nakambala moved to 23 points. Forest have now lost three games on the trot after going eight unbeaten under Patrick Phiri to be on 24 points.
Blackpool 0 Buffaloes 1
Green Buffaloes moved within reach of Zesco but were relegated to fifth position on goal difference thanks to a vital away win over bottom and winless Mufulira Blackpool.
Jack Chirwa scored the all important goal to send Buffaloes to 33 points while Blackpool are on six points.
Playing today: Zanaco v Lusaka Tigers@1245hrs, Red Arrows v Lumwana Radiants @15:00hrs, Zesco United v Napsa Stars postponed.
