POLICE CAP2By REBECCA MUSHOTA –

A 75-YEAR-OLD man of Luanshya district has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Joyce Kasosa said in an interview yesterday that a 10-year-old girl of Mikomfwa Township was defiled near her home in Luanshya on Saturday.
The man, George Kalenga of no fixed abode in Kambilimbilo Township in Luanshya is suspected to have defiled the girl.
“After drinking illicit beer around 14:00 hours, the man dragged the 10-year-old girl into an unfinished building and defiled her,” Ms Kasosa said.
She said alert passersby found the man defiling the girl and they apprehended him.
Ms Kasosa said Kalenga was arrested and is in police custody. And a 74-year-old man of Samfya has died after he was beaten by his nephew who suspected him of practising witchcraft.
Field Ngolofwani, a former Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) scout died on Tuesday at his home in Kalebwe Village in Chief Kalasa Mukoso’s area in Samfya around 15:00 hours after nursing wounds sustained from the beatings by his nephew.
Luapula Province Police Commissioner Malcolm Mulenga said on January 30, Mr Ngolofwani was beaten by his nephew Aaron Kaunda of the same house leaving him unconscious.
Mr Mulenga said neighbours reported to the Police mobile unit at Mukuku Bridge that Mr Ngolofwani had been killed and yet he had not died.
Police officers that rushed to the scene examined Mr  Ngolofwani and found that he had a deep cut on the right part of his head. Police suspected a hoe was used to injure the victim and that he was just unconscious.
Mr Ngolofwani was taken to Kasanka rural health centre for medical treatment. Investigations revealed that Kaunda suspected that his uncle was  a
wizard and beat him up.
Mr Ngolofwani was eventually discharged from the health centre but  he died at home on Tuesday.
“No arrest has been made but intensive investigations have been instituted into the matter,” Mr Mulenga said.
And a man armed with a pistol and a knife attacked a 22-year-old-woman of Mansa and stole a cell phone, an automated tailor machine (ATM) card, black high-heeled shoes and books all valued at K420.
Mr Mulenga said the named woman of Spark extension was attacked by a man she could identify around 08:20 hours at Mansa Golf Club area on Tuesday last week.
He said after the man robbed the woman, he attempted to rape her but she managed to escape. No arrest has been made yet.
