LUANSHYA Royals A consolidated their leadership in the Zambia Cricket Union (ZCU) Copperbelt league by taking a vital 10-run win over rivals Nkana, in a game played at Bharat Sports Club in Luanshya.
On field, Nkana won the toss and elected to field and restricted Luanshya Royals A to 176-8 in 30 overs with Gibson Kandela starring with 45 runs while, Vivek Singh made 27 runs and Tauseef Muhammad contributing 24 runs.
Nkana, batting second, were all out for 166 runs in 28.4 overs with Vijay Shetty top scoring with a knock of 46 runs while, the best bowler for Luanshya Royals A was Sanker Angamuthu who gave the Nkana batsmen a torrid time and picked up a four wicket haul.
Kanswe Omala and Steven Banda played the supporting role by each picking up two wickets.
The win took Luanshya Royals A to 10 points, two better than Nkana and Athenes X1, though they have played two games more than the rivals.
And in the ZCU Universities and Colleges league, Zambia Air Service Training Institute (ZASTI) maintained their unbeaten run after this 34 runs win over Lusaka Business and Technical College (LBTC).
On the field, ZASTI were all out for just 55 runs and looked headed for their first defeat until they came to bowl and took out LBTC batting second, only managed to score 24 runs out of all LBTC batsmen in 24 runs.
In the second game of the day between LBTC and Lusaka Vocational Training Centre (LVTC), LBTC batted first and hit 60 runs, all out with Harry Sinyangwe leading with 21 runs while, Shadreck Banda scored 18 runs with LVTC’s Brian Tembo picking three wickets. LVTC, batting second, only managed to score 50 runs to lose by 11 runs.
