ZAMBIANS have been urged to exercise caution and remember that the country is bigger than any political party.
Youth and public health consultant Beck Banda said Zambians should unite and cherish the peace and dignity the country had been known for.
Dr Banda said it was important for people to co-exist and resist any temptation of engaging in violence, tribal remarks or hate speech.
“Do not auction the peace of the country and the future of younger generations to the highest political bidder,” Dr Banda said in an interview.
He said the post-election violence that had been witnessed in some parts of the country should be condemned by all well-meaning Zambians.
He said the high levels of poverty and unemployment among the young people should not be the reason to engage in political violence.
“Fellow Zambians, let’s co-exist and resist any temptation of engaging in violence, tribal remarks or hate speech,” Dr Banda said.
He appealed to politicians and those he termed as blind followers to denounce violence and avoid being used as political hooligans.
“Let us unite. Say no to violence, hate speech, tribal remarks and useless political propaganda,” Dr Banda said.
