MTN Premier Division League promotion side, Indeni have vowed to compete favourably with the nation’s top teams after being assured of a better sponsorship package by Indeni Petroleum Limited.
Club chairperson, Charles Mwanza said Indeni would compete well in the league this season and avoid fighting for survival as it was the case in the past.
Mwanza said in Ndola yesterday the club would take on the big guns in the league punch-for-punch with a target for a respective finish on the log.
He said Indeni had been busy during the transfer window and hoped to conclude its business on the market this week.
Mwanza said the commitment shown by Indeni chief executive officer, Maybin Noole’s management towards the club was encouraging as the Ndola-based team was now able to attract quality players to the team.
He, however, could not give the actual figure being offered by the sponsors but said the amount would be adequate to meet Indeni’s obligations this season.
“Our aim is to ensure we don’t fight for survival in the league but to finish among the top teams. We will compete favourably this season and we’re building a strong team. We’ve managed to sign a few players and we hope to finalise with other clubs this week,” Mwanza said.
Indeni coached by Stephen Mwansa will open their 2014 account against three-time league champions, Zesco United in a Ndola derby.
