THE Examination Council of Zambia (ECZ) has adjusted the examination fees to be paid by candidates for the year 2017 school and college examinations.
Ministry of General Education spokesperson Hilary Chipango said an administration fee of K5 per grade nine internal candidates will be paid by each school using funds from user fees by the learners while the introduced external candidates will be paying an entry fee of K70 and K75 per subject.
He said in a statement that the fees for Grade 12 Internal candidates have been adjusted from K10 entry fee to K25 and from K8 per subject to K23.
Mr Chipango further said that the Grade 12 General Certificate of Education (GCE) candidates would now be paying K75 as entry fee from K50 and K120 per subject fee from K100.
He said the teacher education examination entry fee has been maintained at K60 while K60 per subject would be paid.
“The ministry of General Education has given the ECZ a go ahead to adjust examination fees to be paid by candidates for the year 2017 school and college examinations. All structures in the ministry have been communicated to,” he said.
Mr Chipango said the ECZ resolved to introduce the grade nine external examinations arising from its 68th Security Committee meeting held in August this year.
He said the National Examination Security committee resolved to introduce the grade nine external examination particularly to target repeats, distance and out of school learners.
Mr Chipango said their examinations would be conducted in August each year alongside the GCE examinations.
