RENOWNED radio personality Chishala Chitoshi otherwise known as Gesh Groove has tipped local radio DJs to avoid imitating some accent.
Gesh says DJs should have a local content with a global perspective.
The Radio Netherland trained DJ who is also proprietor of Kitwe based Flava FM Radio said some crop of local radio DJs want to fake foreign accent and misled their listeners on the happenings from Hollywood which they know little about.
He appealed to the new crop of DJs to take time to read, understand international issues that relate to local listenership and also try to learn the ropes from those who have been in the industry for some time.
“Up to this day, I still learn from people like Teddy Daka, (Man Child) and others.
Gesh said in an interview yesterday that the DJ Academy which he started a couple of years ago will resume again in March next year.
He said the DJs Academy has attracted massive response from a number of hopefuls intending to be trained on how to burn decks in a professional way.
Gesh said in his Academy search, he always looks for DJs who are knowledgeable and have the thirsty and hunger to read.
Gesh, a trained lawyer, is one of the pioneers of professional deejaying in the country.
Back in the days , he used to have a mobile entertainment system where he was hired at various functions throughout the country.
