JUST when her fans started wondering where she is or when she will release a new project, songbird Daputsa Nkhata, aka Sista D, has plans to give her fans something new.
The ‘Iron lady’ of Zambian music is back with Kawawasha.
This number features Chesta, of the Umutokofyompo fame .
Sista D, who has been in the hiatus for some time now, confirmed in an interview during the week .
The singer, who is married to controversial reggae musician Maiko Zulu – the only Zambian to have scooped a Kora award – said she is back with a bang.
Sista D says she is also working on a new album that will consist of eight songs.
Asked on what the title of the new project will be, the Chimubabe singer said “am still thinking about the title…but all what I can say is that the new album will have eight songs which my fans will be able to appreciate.”
The dreadrocked Kabwata based songbird said her latest project will be on the shelves by mid January.
She says her-yet-to-be named album is going to be a notch above her previous releases.
Sista D has been one of the most consistent performers of the 21st Century.
Her music has mainly been centred on campaigning for issues related to child and women rights.
She has imprinted her name among the annual organisers of the almost monotonous Davas Night.
