ZAMBIA Sports Fans Association (ZASOFA) patron Peter Makembo has said there is need to speed up preparations for the 2017 Under-20 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) which Zambia will be hosting next month.
Makembo said FAZ and other stake holders needed to ensure that all the loose ends were tied to ensure that the tournament was a success.
He said the tournament was a high profile tournament one and demands utmost seriousness.
“I would like to urge FAZ to ensure that all logistics are well taken care of so that there no hitches at the tournament,” he said.
The ZASOFA strong man however, commended Government and FAZ for showing commitment in ensuring that the event was a success.
“Government and FAZ should be commended for ensuring that the event is a success story since a tournament of this magnitude will attract a lot of coverage,” he said.
Makembo said he had gone flat out recruiting new members for the association to render a service to the tournament.
He said they were trying to recruit a number of people who would be divided between Ndola and Lusaka during the tournament to ensure that they give support to all the teams taking part in the tournament.
“ZASOFA will ensure that it gives support to all the countries that will take part in the tournament and we are going to divide ourselves. Some people will be based in Ndola while others will be in Lusaka,” he said.
