PATRIOTIC Front (PF) youths on the Copperbelt have endorsed President Edgar Lungu as the party’s candidate for the 2021 general elections.
PF provincial youth chairperson Nathan Chanda said in an interview that President Lungu was eligible to stand in 2021 and that Copperbelt youths were supporting his Presidential candidature.
He said the support was cross-cutting from the branches, wards, constituencies, districts and the province and the youth wanted the Central Committee to take note of their position.
Mr Chanda said President Lungu deserved another term in office because he had demonstrated statesmanship and maturity in the manner he was governing the country.
“We are doing so because he has demonstrated statesmanship, humble leadership and accommodates everyone from all walks of life. From the time he took over from Mr Sata there has been stability and we want to give him more time so that he can work on the challenges the people are facing.
“We don’t want to leave room for other people to start positioning themselves or speculations even if they challenge him at the convention, our position as youths on the Copperbelt is that we will support him for so many reasons one being that he is incorporating the youths in key decision-making positions,” he said.
He said the youth from various districts would soon officially announce their support for the President as the PF presidential candidate for 2021 general elections.
