PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili and PF Copperbelt youth chairperson Nathan Chanda have appeared before a party disciplinary tribunal to explain the genesis of an alleged feud between the duo.
This is in a matter where Dr Kambwili, the former Information and Broadcasting Services minister, has been asked to exculpate himself on allegations that he accused Mr Chanda of practising witchcraft.
Dr Kambwili is also reported to have accused Mr Chanda of furnishing President Edgar Lungu with a dossier, which led to his dismissal from Cabinet last year.
Dr Kambwili, in the company of his witnesses and family members, appeared before the committee which sat at the PF secretariat in Lusaka yesterday.
Mr Chanda, who is Luanshya Mayor, also in the company of witnesses, appeared before the tribunal on Friday last week.
The duo was scheduled to appear for hearing on Friday but Dr Kambwili’s witnesses from the Copperbelt reportedly failed to travel to Lusaka in good time, hence his hearing taking place yesterday.
PF deputy spokesperson Frank Bwalya told journalists yesterday that the disciplinary committee hearing for the duo was chaired by PF national chairperson Ngosa Simbyakula.
“Other members of the committee are the party’s deputy national chairperson Dorothy Kazunga, chairperson for elections Jean Kapata, chairperson for legal affairs Alfreda Kansembe and the former MP for Chifubu Constituency in Ndola Susan Kawandami,” Mr Bwalya said.
Mr Bwalya said the committee would at the culmination of the hearings issue recommendations to the PF Central Committee headed by President Lungu, which would pass a verdict over the matter.
