By JAJAH COULIBALY –
SUSPENDED Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) vice-president Chifumu Banda (right) has been expelled from the party for failure to exculpate himself within a period of 60 days.
In a statement issued to Sunday Times, FDD national chairperson Potipher Chungu said Mr Banda had ceased to be a member of the FDD with immediate effect.
Mr Chungu also said the standing committee had with immediate effect suspended the party’s Lusaka provincial chairperson James Musemuna for bringing the name of the party into ridicule over his continued remarks against the party leadership.
“In the spirit of fairness and natural justice, the said Mr James Musemuna has been given seven days to exculpate himself,” Mr Chungu said.
He further said the party convention slated for February 24 had been postponed to a later date to be communicated to the public.
Mr Chungu said the postponement was to do with the party’s fundraising committee that had not yet reached the targeted K6 million to hold the convention.
