Kalu heads CAF technical committee

KALUSHA Bwalya says he will use his new Confederation of African Football (CAF) position as chairperson of technical and development committee to better the future of the game in the continent.
The former Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president, together with other CAF officials, was yesterday appointed to head various committees for a period of four years during the CAF executive committee meeting in Manama, Bahrain.
Kalusha said after his appointment that he was up for the new challenge and thanked CAF president Ahmad Ahmad for believing in him.

“(I’m) Proud to have been appointed as chairman of the CAF technical and development committee. This role will allow us to guide the future of the game in Africa for better. I’m up for the challenge. Thanks to President of CAF and executive members for believing in me,” Kalusha tweeted few minutes after the appointment.
It was the first executive committee meeting since Ahmad ousted Issa Hayatou from the CAF presidency and the new appointments would run from 2017 to 2021.
In other appointments, Ghanaian Kwesi Nyatakyi became the first vice-president while the second vice-president is Contestant Omaro of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Nigeria’s Amaju Pinnick will head two committees as president for the Africa Cup of Nations and media committees.
Isha Johansen was given three responsibilities as she will chair the Women’s Football in Africa committee, be vice-chairperson for Fair Play as well as CAF Social Responsibilities.
Danny Jordaan of South Africa was tasked with the chairmanship of the marketing and TV and vice-chairmanship of Club licensing committees.
