By KALUMIANA KALUMIANA –
ZEDDY Saileti battles to save his job as Nkana coach starting this afternoon when they host City of Lusaka at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
Saileti was last Monday handed a three-match ultimatum following a modest start to the season just five league games gone following his appointment as head coach of the 12-time champions.
Nkana are currently fifth from bottom in 15th place with one win and just five points from as many games played.
Nkana v City
Seventh placed City visit Nkana seeking their first league win over their hosts since 2002 when they won 2-0 away in Kitwe that season.
Since then, Nkana have picked up a draw and enjoyed six successive wins over City heading into this afternoon’s first trial date for Saileti.
The onus will be on Striker’s Walter Bwalya and Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba to deliver Nkana’s second win of the season to reignite their early interest in the 2017 title and ease the early pressure on Saileti.
Nakambala v Lumwana
Lumwana Radiants visit Nakambala Leopards hoping to reclaim top spot in the ongoing musical chairs at the top of the table.
Lumwana are level on 11 points at the top of the log with leaders Zesco United from five games played, and the latter’s absence gives them motivation to take up sole leadership of the table.
Unbeaten Lumwana visit Nakambala who have lost three successive games heading into today’s game in Mazabuka.
Victory for Lumwana would see them take a three point lead ahead of Zesco as they enjoy their best start in their second successive season in the FAZ Super League..
Honours are even between the two sides dating back to last season with Lumwana winning 1-0 last November at home but losing 2-1 away in Mazabuka.
Eagles v Dynamos
Lusaka Dynamos visit Green Eagles hoping to prove that their first win of the season last week when they beat Red Arrows was not a flash in the pan.
Dynamos visit top four side Eagles who are unbeaten at home where they famously beat defending champions Zanaco 2-1 in week 2 and Patrick Phiri’s side should tread cautiously in Choma this afternoon.
Buildcon v Napsa
Ambitious Buildcon search for its first league win of the season continues when they host fifth placed Napsa Stars at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The big spenders lost their first game of the season last weekend and are certain to be tested by Tennant Chilumba’s young and motivated side who have not disappointed despite losing twice this season.
Another draw or defeat for Buildcon could see them stay rooted in the relegation zone.
Forest v Nkwazi
Perry Mutapa’s Forest Rangers have been quietly grinding out the results and are unbeaten in their last four games with two wins and as many draws.
Mutapa hosts his ex-club Nkwazi who come armed with their first win of the season to Ndola.
Arrows v Power
Power Dynamos maybe unbeaten but have failed to show that with results on the pitch with four draws and a win lying in mid-table.
Power visit Red Arrows hunting their first league win since April 16 when they beat Napsa 1-0 in Kitwe before collecting three points on the trot.
Blades v Real Nakonde
Real Nakonde make their debut visit to Chililabombwe to play fellow promoted side Konkola Blades.
Blades have been blowing hot and cold and are seeking their first home win since the start of the season when they beat Green Buffaloes 1-0 on April 15.
But Nakonde know Blades are not Mufulira Wanderers whom they downed 2-0 last week to collect their debut league win and should expect a tough ride in Chililabombwe.
Wanderers v Warriors
Two winless sides meet at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira today when ailing and last placed ‘Mighty’ Mufulira Wanderers host their old foes Kabwe Warriors who are just above them in 19th place.
A draw would not do either side any good but a win will go some way to ease the pressure on Warriors coach Kampamba Chintu and give a ray of hope for new Wanderers boss Wilson Mwale.
