By SANDRA MWILA –
NKANA Striker Walter Bwalya has said the claims by Lusaka Dynamos that he is a foreign player are unfounded, insisting that he is Zambian.
This response follows Dynamos query into Walter’s eligibility to play in the MTN-FAZ Super League because he was a foreign player who does not have an International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
Dynamos Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Simataa Simataa wrote to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) explaining Walter’s disqualification to play in the Zambian Super League as a local player.

According to a letter sent to FAZ through the office of the general secretary, Simataa stated that Dynamos investigations revealed that Walter once played in Congo DR under the name of Heriter Binene Sabwa.
Simataa said Walter played for Corbaux FC in the 2010 -2011 season and also played for Lubumbashi Sports FC in 2012.
“This qualifies him (Walter) as a foreign player or a returning Zambian player requiring or who warrants an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) before he can play in Zambia. There is no evidence on the TMS that this was sought or that you gave provisional permission for him to play,” Simataa said.
He added that FAZ should apply the necessary sanctions when it is found that the player is not eligible to play in Zambia.
But Walter said he was a Zambian and even poses the National Registration Card (NRC), adding that he had no idea what Dynamos were talking about.
He spent a season and a half at Ndola-based outfit Forest Rangers before he signed for Nkana in July 2015.
Walter admitted having played for Corbaux and Lubumbashi FC in Congo DR but not under the names brought forward by Simataa.
“I don’t know what Dynamos are talking about because I am Zambian, my father is Zambian but my mother is Congolese,” Bwalya said.
The 2016 Super League top scorer said his names where Walter Binene Bwalya and had no idea where Dynamos got Heriter Sabwa.
“I have played for those clubs (Corboux and Lubumbashi) but not with those names, I am Walter Binene Bwalya. I even played at Forest Rangers as a Zambian,” Bwalya said.
