THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has backed Chipolopolo coach Wedson Nyirenda over his moves to curb ‘indiscipline’ at the national team level.
FAZ president Andrew Kamanga said in an interview that he was in full supportof Nyirenda’s stance as discipline was the cornerstone to the progress of in any player’s career.
“Fans should be objective on the matters they criticise the coach, but onthis issue if discipline, I am supporting the coach 150 percent.Discipline is cardinal and all players need to have discipline,”Kamanga said.
Nyirenda has made moves to instil in the team and sidelined midfielders Fwayo Tembo and Clatous Chama forthe Ethiopia friendly on disciplinary grounds.
The coach left out Chama for the friendly for snubbing the bench afterhe was substituted for John Ching’andu in the African NationsChampionship (CHAN) qualifier return fixture against Swaziland at Heroes stadium.
Chama apologised to the coach for his behaviour but Nyirenda stillwent ahead to discipline the skillful player stating that he did not want player’stalents to go to waste.
Tembo is being discipline for snubbing a Chipolopolo call up for theinternational friendly against South Africa without and properexplanation.
Nyirenda also stated that Rainford Kalaba was not an exception fordisciplinary action for snubbing the bench after he was substitutedfor Given Singuluma in the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifieragainst Mozambique which Zambia lost 1-0.
But Kalaba has come out saying he got permission from the assistantcoaches to go straight to the dressing room.
