SUDANESE football giants Al-Hilal are reportedly in hot pursuit of Zesco United Serbian coach Zlatko Krmpotićwith the beleaguered coach said to be interested in the switch.
According to media reports from Khartoum, Al-Hilal made contact with the Zesco trainer for him to take charge of that country’s most successful club three weeks ago.
It was reported that Krmpotić confirmed to the Sudanese media that Hilal approached him few weeks ago with the intention of offering him the job in Omdurman.
Sources from the Sudanese club indicated that the under-pressure Zesco coach is interested and waiting for Hilal to give him a firm offer as he has a contract with Zesco.
Krmpotić joined Zesco early this year on a two-year contract and has more than a year remaining but it has a buyout clause which might be triggered if the Sudanese come up with the needed package.
The Serb has come under immense pressure as a season that promised much unravelled and now is only in contention of the Super Division after being dumped out of the CAF Confederations Cup and the Barclays Cup.
Krmpotić is in a precarious situation at Levy Mwanawasa as fans have lost faith in the coach with the vocal section calling for his sack.
He looks isolated in most parts and it can hold to say that he has lost the dressing room as well.
But the self-assured Serb believes his team are in good shape for the league run in and brags that he took the team to the Confederation Cup quarter final where they got eliminated by Supersport of South Africa for the first time ever in the history of the club.
