Zambia has mining potential

THE Mining Sector Development Programme (MSDP) says Zambia still has a bright mining potential as evidenced from a number of exploration presentations made by interested mining houses.
MSDP Eastern, Northern and Central regional advisor Stephen Mutambo said in an interview recently that exploration done by some major mining houses showed a lot of potential in Zambia’s future mining activities.
Mr Mutambo said these explorations had revealed the existence of huge Copper deposits that still remained untapped.
“Presentations and exploration results from major mining houses show a lot of potential in the future of Zambia’s mining industry with huge copper deposits,” Mr Mutambo said.
The MSDP is undertaking a promotional drive to expose Zambia’s mining potential to the international community through exhibition at major world mining foras among them the Processors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) which Mr Mutambo visited.
While the exhibition took on board traditional mining activities, the primary focus was on the non traditional mining activities that was also developing world class market especially with the opening up of the Chinese market for precious metals.
Zambia through the MSDP also took part in the regional premier mining conference in South Africa, another fora where mining activities were promoted to mining powerhouses from Australia, America and Canada among others.
