BA slashes air fares to promote ‘2005 Visit Zambia’ campaign

THE 30 per cent reduction in fares by British Airways (BA) for the ‘2005 Visit to Zambia’ campaign has received overwhelming response in bookings.
BA accounts manager Vincent Mupwaya said in Lusaka yesterday the concession fares had attracted many Zambians who had already started making bookings for their British friends to visit Zambia.
Speaking in an interview, Mr Mupwaya said the development would boost the number of British tourists coming to Zambia and the country should be able to earn a lot of foreign exchange.
Mr Mupwaya implored Zambians to take advantage of the situation and invite as many of their British colleagues as possible.
Mr Mupwaya said the 30 per cent reduction was the most prestigious contribution his company could offer to the ‘Visit to Zambia Campaign’, as BA celebrated its 70 years in Zambia.
He commended Government for its relentless efforts to revamp tourism, which was becoming one of the most viable sectors in Zambia.
And the Zambia National Tourist Board (ZNTB) assistant marketing manager Chibeza Ngoma commended BA for the gesture.
Mr Ngoma said the development would go a long way in making the ‘Visit Zambia’ campaign a big success and appealed to other airlines to emulate British Airways.
